Bean bags are easy to make if your have never tried it. You can fill it, create up to 10 beanbag sets, or even make a zero-sew beanbag chair. These projects are easy to do and offer great rewards.
Sewing up to 10 bean bags
Sew a square from fabric into a cylindrical shape to make bean bags. Measure the length of each rectangle and cut the seam allowance accordingly. To reduce bulk, fold the fabric in half. Then, add about half a cup dried beans to the cylinder.

Cut a 4 1/2 x 4 inch square of fabric. Use a rotary tool to reduce the size of muslin or cut them into smaller pieces. Make sure to use a safe surface for cutting and use a safety pin to avoid tearing the muslin fabric. Repeat this step to make all of the cylinders.
You should choose a fabric that is strong yet easy to work with. Avoid synthetic fabric and choose a denim fabric. It's easy to use and readily available. Beanbags made with recycled jeans can be made from denim jeans. Use them for stacking, tossing, and hide-and-seek games.
No-sew bean bag chair
An inexpensive way to get a comfortable, non-sewable bean bag chair for your home is to use it as a sewing machine. You can make your chair from fabric and small plastic pellets. You can fill the bag with beans or pellets to about 3/4 of its capacity. Then, use a zipper to close it.
This project can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. The project is easy to complete in just two weeks and does not require any sewing skill. To make your bean bag cover soft and colorful, you can use a hot glu gun. It's also a great learning opportunity.

A no-sew beanbag chair should also have a filling. The fillings of store-bought bean bag chairs are often made from styrofoam beads. It is better to choose poly pellets as they are less expensive and more toxic. They can be purchased in bulk bags and biodegradable. The bean bag chair will fit easily with the polystyrene foam filler. You can combine the filler with a water-soluble adhesive to make a waterproof covering.
